Showers and Weddings

I should be outside - enjoying these cool temps. It is 71. I plan to paint an old wooden harvest table that is on my front patio, then crash in the afternoon! That's the way I roll.

We're surrounded once again with fires all around us. Far enough away that we are not threatened.
I believe the biggest is about 8000 + acres. It is just the way it is up here! I'm up at the very top of the Central Valley (in white) before you start climbing into the mountains.

I just received the official wedding invitation from my son and his fiancee.  It's Feb 29. Yes, that is Leap Year Day. I love the whole idea of that. Wish I had thought of it. They plan to go all out every 4 years on an anniversary vacation. Well, that's the plan anyway! Soon, there will be wedding showers to go to - One is in October that Sara is taking me to, in her hometown of Woodland. Then she will have another up here. They are paying for their wedding themselves. Wow, how many couples do that these days? I guess it is because they are older - Navy will be 35 and Sara 39. The husband and I haven't talked about it yet, but we will give them something, probably toward their honeymoon. Maybe there could be a monetary BONUS for them if she can get pregnant and give me a grandchild SOON.

Foggy me

I should be a Grandma - I'm 65 and I look like a Granny. Everyone assumes I am a Grandma...I, however, an Auntie. I pretty much gave up ever thinking I would have a grandchild. Honestly, it doesn't make any difference to me one way or another. If you don't have any then you don't know what you are missing. I know they want at least one.

Still, haven't heard from Foodie. The longer this goes, the more awkward it becomes. Like what the heck did I do? I have no idea if he is back to work or what. I figure Sara will probably tell me on our way down to IKEA Wednesday. There is a BIG part of me, that almost doesn't want to know. My ulcer can't take it.

  1. Hi Debby :) Sorry I'm not up to date on your Foodie situation, what's up? Congrats on your son's wedding! I feel very blessed that I don't have to deal with forest fires around here. We have such a humid climate it's very rare that there are fires. Stay safe!

  2. We are close to the fires in Murrieta. Hope we get some rain this Winter and that it starts early. How exciting, a family wedding is the best. Our son got married two years ago. They were 34 and 38 hence the fact that I finally became a grandmother last year at 67! Your day will come and you will love it. I felt I had to trust in Gods plan for me. My sister was 46 when she started having grandchildren. Big difference when you have to start chasing them around when you're babysitting. I'm excited for you.

Oh I love the rain and we always need it.

Its funny, I was the first to start having babies and now I am the last to have grandchildren. I do have one friend, who is grandchildress like me.

  3. Mrs. C's daughter is getting married next June. Mrs. C is currently on a "My Daughter is getting married in June" diet. A very expensive way to lose weight.

    1. Wow. I won't start back on to my Keto diet till January. I lost a good amount before my surgery and have kept most of it off.

How fun. June is the traditional month for weddings.

  4. That is a cute idea for marrying on Feb 29th and then planning extra special getaways/celebrations every Leap year! Fun times ahead too with the festivities ahead! I follow another blog that she just became a grandmother last year at the age of 66. I'm sure you'll make a wonderful grandmother!

  5. Debby, that's great news that your son is getting married. It's really nice and responsible of them to pay for the wedding themselves. I chuckled when you said maybe there could be a bonus for them if she can give me a grandchild. I do hope that happens. It's such a great thing being a grandma. I can't believe you are having the fires there again! I hope they get them under control. The wedding shower will be fun for you. I'm not far from Woodland at all. We go to a good Mexican restaurant there sometimes.

    1. I am so proud of them. Of course we will help out in some other way - it won't be a big wedding. I believe just about 150 guests.

    2. Did you say Mexican restaurant? You'll have to share that with me. I wonder if Sara knows the place. I love a good mexican place to eat at. We'll drive out of our way to go to one, if its good.

  6. I was 67 when my first grandchild was born. He has a little sister and they are probably the only two grandchildren I will have. The other two boys are in their 40's and the married one is not interested in having children.
Glad to know you are not near the fires. I'll be burning up today because it is supposed to be hot and humid.

    1. 62 degrees when I drove my husband to work. Had some misty type showers early in the morning. Supposed to get to 81. But the 5 day forecast shows we will be heating up. It's that battle between summer and fall.

Comments are good - I admit, sometimes I don't respond back, in time for a dialog. I bad! I will TRY and do better. Thanks for understanding.
