Silly Californians.

Friday night we had a RARE hailstorm here in Shasta County as well as an even RARER Tornado warning. WTH???  I believe it is the first ever tornado warning for at least 50 years or so. Golf-sized hail, which we never get. First I heard a single POP of hail. About 60 seconds later it was two, then 3 and more. After about another 60 seconds 3 Quadrillion hail asteroids came Thundering down. They told us to "shelter in place."

OKAY, we're Californians...we do not know WHERE to shelter in place. We have no shelters, or basements or wherever one shelters in.  So we all stood out in front, looking at the clouds, taking pictures...IT WAS A HAPPENING!

The college graduation was canceled. Everything was set up, on the football field and earlier in the day, there was no indication that a tornado or hail was coming. We were supposed to have attended. Apparently, people - being people who know nothing about tornados, panicked. Running all over the place as these hail bombs were being flung from the heavens.

Some people, are just so darn silly. Even I shrug at their stupidity; blaming the college.
It used to be, Californians were considered "Laid back". I know I am. (EXCEPT when it comes to fires) I don't know WHO these people are? Like CHILL will you?

It wasn't the END of the World. Yeah, it's disappointing and an inconvenience but asking for compensation???????????

Only in California...

    1. and you can't reason with them either. Someone HAS TO PAY for their disappointment or inconvenience.

  2. We had hail a few weeks ago. It was the first time I'd seen it hail here (in almost 10 years) and the first time I'd seen hail in probably 20 years. I always think it's funny when people describe hail as "baseball sized" or "grapefruit sized." If someone got hit with baseball-sized hail, I suspect in would be a knockout. I don't know if hail that large ever occurs, but perhaps you'll tell me it's true.

    1. I am amazed they predicted the size of the hail before it hit. They looked like hard rocks - about the size of golf balls. One piece of hail looked like a little brain. Freaky

    2. Golf ball-sized hail sounds pretty big. Our hail was gravel sized.

  3. Us Mid-westerners call CA the land of fruits and nuts. Unfortunately, we have our own share of folks who would have the same complaints. And we get that kind of weather all the time. And they don't even get the predictions right, so how can you pre-plan for that? Crazy.

    1. Oh yeah, I've heard that before. It's true in the literal sense.

  4. I wouldn't have a clue where the hell to shelter in such an event
Some people complain for the sake of complaining

Comments are good - I admit, sometimes I don't respond back, in time for a dialog. I bad! I will TRY and do better. Thanks for understanding.
