Pre Op Day 5

I was worried for nothing! I called the hospital and all they wanted to tell me was my surgeon ordered me a front wheel walker and it will be delivered to my house on Tuesday.

Thank God! I was imaging all sort of health issues that they might have seen from my blood work or the EKG. I've never had any health issues, so why I would even go down that minefield, I don't know. I guess it's being 65 now. You just never know when something is going to finally "happen." or creep up on you.

Today, I will go out and purchase a large wedge thingy so I can raise my legs when I lie flat on my bed. AND a toilet seat riser. Ohhhhhhhhhhh man, this is gonna be strange. I don't believe I have EVER sat on a raised up toilet seat. I'll probably fall off!

All these EXTRA$ are adding up. I'm pretty much a minimalist at heart so it goes against my grain to purchase all this crap. But "THEY," say I'll need it.

Need to stock up on some easy healthy meals - this is all just too much. It's worse than packing for a vacation which I hate to do and usually do it at the very last minute. I'd much rather either pack, and send it ahead in a package or (this is my favorite) just pack a few things, and whatever else I need - then just BUY IT. There's always a Walmart close by. Then, pack it all up and send it home or donate it.

  1. I had to go back and read your previous post to understand what is happening here!! Those toilet risers are interesting and weird. I had no idea of all the prep for knee replacement (is that what you're having?). I hope you have plenty of help. Also didn't have any idea about the anti-bacterial soap and other prep to avoid Mrsa. Sheesh. Anxiety much?

    1. If you don't have anxiety before, you sure will later on...

  2. Just because surgery is so commonplace to the hospital people, they should realize it is not a casual thing to the patient. They could easily said what the call was for, not just said call regarding the surgery. Would have saved you a lot of needless worry when you are already nervous about the procedure.

  3. I had a total knee replacement 6 years ago. It all went smoothly and I didn't have these extras! I guess different surgeons want patients to have different extras. I used a walking stick for a week or so. The exercises are very important and it was stressed to me to do them, but unfortunately I fell at my swimming class and broke foot so my exercises were delayed but all is good now, just took me a bit longer to recover. Good luck with it all and don't worry too much.

  4. When my mum had her hip replacement last year she had to get a foam wedge for her legs at night in bed but didn't need to raise the toilet because of how short she is, she is 5'2"

Comments are good - I admit, sometimes I don't respond back, in time for a dialog. I bad! I will TRY and do better. Thanks for understanding.
